Alberobello--Trulli!

Alberobello is the home of the trullo (or trulli plural) --white-washed houses with cone-shaped roofs.  they even have trulli B&B's so you can stay in one when you come to Italy.

They have stores everywhere here that sell trinkets and cheap tourist hand towels, statues, etc but every store sells exactly the same thing!

Ragazzi!

Our Puglia district: Sorella Taylor, Sor.Nelson, me, Anziano Colvert,Anz.Bellows, Anz.Bates, Anz. Fitzner, Anz. Chugg, Anz. Holbrook, Anz. Ray.  Sor. McFarland was missing as she was in Foggia. Can't say enough good about this group of wonderful young missionaries.  I love them all!  Hard workers and always positive and FUN! We will really miss Sor. Taylor, Anz. Holbrook and Bellows as they have been transferred.
Pancakes at the coppia's apartment! Transfer week...notice the camera on top of the white shelf to the right???  This was seconds before Chris's camera came crashing to the ground and wrecked his pricey lens...He was not happy....
Saying goodbye to a few at the bus depot....

Polignana a mare

We saw the ancient city of Polignana which has been inhabited since prehistoric times they say. AMAZING!  (Yes, we are doing missionary work--but don't have many pictures of that.)

Oh, look at this next picture...see the rocky ledge, see the rope hanging from the edge...wouldn't that be a cool climb?  Oh, no...that would be dangerous....wouldn't it?  Well...
OH,OH...who is that crazy person attempting to do just that???

WAIT FOR IT>>>

UP, UP, UP he goes.... with me standing watching with the other 20 people that are there and trying to pretend I don't know him and wondering what I will do if he falls, how am I going to explain to Presidente Waddoups why he's in the hospital....(images of last summer at the cabin flashing through my mind with him climbing the 1000 foot tall tree to get his remote controlled plane down and I'm begging him to get down before he kills himself and I am a widow! )
Well, he made it and he's still living..."That was nothing" he says..."Hmmph" I said.
THE END.

P-Day--The White City: Ostuni

Traveled about an hour down the coast from Bari to Ostuni for P.Day.  The city is a series of staircases, small roads, alleys, and arches and all on beautiful white-washed cobblestones. Ostuni is known as the "White City"  (la Citta' Bianca) for its white walls and its typically white-painted architecture.
Of course I found a dental office in the middle of nowhere!
Can't get enough of the stone streets!

Ostuni's elementary school--I don't think Edmonton has one this old!

Ostuni Piazza

Loved the tiny doors here

Oh...Another statue--didn't get his name--it's terrible that statues are getting to be such everyday sights for us that we take them for granted! Beautiful...

We had our first zone conference on the 24th of February.  This is our zone and we are so proud to be a part of it.  Presidente and Sorella Waddoups are in the middle with Sorella Thorpe to her immediate left (she is leaving this week to go home--the expression is "she is dying this week") and next to her is Sorella Hunter who was "born in Bari" at last transfer.  So proud of each of these young anziani and sorelle.   They are such dedicated hard workers and we love them all already.
The conference was so uplifting and we were taught well.
