Food pictures

It seems we do a lot of food pictures here on this mission.. Above is our anniversary meal at a wonderful Japanese restaurant just a couple blocks away from our apartment.  Delicious!!.  Happy 42 years!!  And below--Yes, I admit it...we are at Burger King eating lunch after our district meeting....

I decided to be brave and try horse sausage at one of our ward lunches after church.  Sorella Valentini (bishop's wife) brought them and offered one to me.  This is Chris taking a picture of me doing it because he was shocked that I would even try it.

I know that I look like I didn't like it but it was actually quite good! They eat a lot of horse meat here in Bari.

Below is a typical Macelleria or meat market in Bari--they are on every street along with a Panaficio (bread store), Pizzaria, Bar, Parruchiere(hair stylist ) and a frutti/verdura mercato.  Italy towns and cities are all like this.  Family businesses.  The farmacia's (pharmacies) are on every couple of blocks and when you really need one they are closed--along with every other store in town...
We needed a pharmacy a few days ago for one of our sister missionaries and they were all closed for lunch, so we ended up at the hospital because we couldn't speak to a pharmacist about a cream she needed for her rash.  They told her to go to a particular dermatologist and we didn't know how to get there--They said--no problem--we'll take you.....in the ambulance....That would cost you $300 in Canada.  It was fun though- right, Sorella Holmes??

We had to make another trip to Rome to the US Embassy to get some documents signed and met up with Chris's cousin--Derek Olthuis and his wife Michelle from Orem, Utah.  We really enjoyed our time with them.  At Trevi fountain...
